In-Home Shoot: Baby Alexandra
I am SO excited to share this sweet newborn session! This is my second photoshoot with this lovely family and they recently welcomed their second child and first daughter! Baby Alexandra is so sweet and perfect. She slept for us almost the entire time and was just a dream baby to photograph! This session focused solely on Alexandra and her big brother JJ. JJ is just shy of two years old, and two-year-olds can be very touch-and-go! You just never know what kind of mood they will be in during a photoshoot. I always do my best to work quickly with toddlers and we never make them do anything they don't feel like doing!
Little JJ wasn't really feeling some of my go-to sibling poses, so in my quick thinking, I had dad change into some neutral colored shorts and caught some lightning fast lap pictures. This is my one of my favorite poses to do with young toddlers. I find that they are most apt to interact with and "hold" the baby if they get to be on mom or dad's lap!
I work quickly and efficiently when there are toddlers involved. I usually try my best to get siblings shots done first and have the toddler be totally done within the first 10-15 minutes! Then, the remainder of the session can be devoted to the baby, mom and baby shots and dad & baby shots. I always find that parents breathe a sigh of relief when the toddler portion of the shoot is concluded.
I always remind parents that I am a mom myself and I know how little ones are!! I know two-year-olds like the back of my hand and I have some tricks up my sleeve to help get them involved and cooperating during the shoot :)
