In-Home Newborn Session: Philly Newborn Photographer

In-home sessions are something that hold a special place in my heart. Before I had a studio, I exclusively did in-home newborn sessions. I learned so much from them. I learned about what works and doesn't work for lighting. I learned about how color casts from wall paint can effect photos. I learned how to utilize the space in front of me to create stunning portraits. I learned how to manipulate window light. I learned how to place my subjects in window light without blowing out highlights. I learned that toddlers love to be in the comfort of their homes. It is always such an honor to be a fly on the wall in a home for a few hours. I love seeing how families interact and love on the newest addition to the family!

Now that I have a studio, most of my newborn sessions are studio sessions. But occasionally, I will travel to homes and recreate some of that in-home magic that originally made me fall in love with newborn photography! Baby Magnolia is the first baby and there was absolutely no shortage of love!! Photographing first babies is so special because I get to focus exclusively on the bond between baby and parents. No distractions, just pure love. It's such a magical experience!

This home was a perfect candidate for an in-home session because there was PLENTY of natural light! There was also plenty of white/neutral colored walls which is something I look for. Neutral walls open up a space and also reflect light onto my subjects! It sounds super scientific, I know, but its really all about how light & color interact with each other!

I am so thrilled to share this in-home newborn session! Welcome to the world, baby Magnolia!
